    Ruins of Sirvan Historic City

    Ruins of this historic city located on today Sarāb-e Kalān Village in Sirvan County, 70 kilometers from the north east of ilam. Sirvan Historic City Was Capital of Māsbazān province in Sassanid era (224-651) Which covered north part of today ilam province. This historic city is important ant among Sassanid era ruins and its Wide Walls Which built by cobblestone and lime mortar are still almost intact. Some buildings roof are still intact, too. Among the ruins, there is monument that called Anushiravān's palace (a Sassanid king in 6th century AD).     The Vāli Citadel

    Vāli Citadel situated in Pāsdārān St. in the Center of the city, on the ancient hill named Choghā Mireg. The monument Was built during the reign of Mohammad-Ali shah Qajar and the rule of Gholām-Rezā Khān, the last Wāli (chieftain) of the Vāli family, a local ruling family that rules on ||am and Lurestan from 17th to 19th centuries and only on llam in 19th and early 20th centuries. The monument inscription tell us that it completed in 1908. The Citadel Cowers an area of 2,500 square meters ground and is 1500 square meters at the base. Having a central Courtyard, the rooms and halls of the building are situated in northern, eastern and Western side of the Courtyard and Whole the monument built by Stone, brick and plaster. Vāli Citadel has many big and Small rooms and halls which some of them are decorated by mirror Works and stuccos (making patterns on plaster). Also having two undergroundin each side of the building, there are 6 undergrounds in the Wāli Citadel. Colorful glazed bricks in geometrical patterns on front of entrances are other kind of Vāli Citadel decoration Which make the monument more beautiful.     Alikosh Hill is the most important archeological site in the province dating to the 8th millennium BC. it located on Bayāt region nearby Musiyān city and surrounded by Wheat farms. The first researches commenced in 1903. Along With a number of other sites, it Was excavated in 1961 and 1963 in Order to elucidate the origins and development of agriculture and herding into the 4th millennium B.C.; the evidence from these sites is more complete than for any other comparable area of the Near East. Alikosh importance lies in the abundant evidence it provides for both agriculture and the early domestication of livestock; three cultural phases make up the deposits in the site: Boz Morda (=dead goat), Alikosh and Mohammad-ja’far. Investigations done in the area has shown relations between this region with Anatolia and some part of Mesopotamia.
